Teaching Methodology

  • The college aims to provide quality education to the students through class room teaching, career counselling, personality development and spoken English programmes and make them able to compete in the job market.
  • Before the commencement of the course, the students are assessed for their knowledge about the subject by the subject teachers by asking fundamental questions of the subject concerned. If, the students are found not responding to the questions 15 days special classes are arranged to bridge the gap. In addition to this, before a teacher teaches a particular topic the students are tested for their previous knowledge by asking some basic questions related to that topic. In case it is found that students present in the class room does not have basic concept about the topic them the teacher first teach them the basics and then start teaching of the topic assigned to him.
  • Before the beginning of the programme the students are given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the subject by giving a brief idea about various topics of the syllabus. Slow learners are allowed to resolve their difficulties with faculty members after class. If some students are still found not coping with the class room progress, they are given extra time by the faculty members. Faculty members also provide lecture notes to the needy students.
  • Interactive teaching methods (use of internet, CDs, Projectors, Power point presentation) by the faculties help the students in better understanding of the topics. ICT enabled teaching helps both the slow and advanced learners. Advanced learners are identified by individual teachers from their in-class responses and periodic evaluation tests. Performance in practical classes is also a means to identify them. Students are encouraged to participate in competitions like quiz, debates, elocution; versification etc. at various levels.
  • Teachers of each department are entrusted to collect and analyze the data on the academic performance of students belonging to disadvantaged sections of society, physically challenged students, slow learners and economically weaker sections. Teachers of each department have been instructed to provide special care to the students belonging to these categories. Students of these categories are provided all kinds of help such as class notes, books, free studentship and financial help in the form of conveyance allowance to minimise the risk of dropout of such students.
  • Faculty members divide the courses for each programme into numbers of lecturers required for each subject. The routine-in-charge, on the basis of Academic Calendar (as published by University), prepares routine accordingly so that requisite numbers of classes could be held in each subject. College watches it through monthly progress report submitted by individual teachers. Class room evaluation is periodically done by faculty members.
  • At the end of each period the students are allowed to individually meet the teacher in order to resolve doubts on topics taught in the class room. Teachers are given facilities in their respective department to access net on desktop and visit library to consult reference books and journals. Modern gadgets like LCD projectors, Overhead projectors are available in department to be used in class rooms. Teachers are encouraged to organize departmental seminars and workshops with active involvement of students facilitating collaborative and independent learning among the students.
  • Evaluation Process : The stakeholders especially the students are informed about evaluation process by the teachers of each department at the beginning of the academic session. The periodic instructions issued by the parent university are promptly communicated to the students. The faculty members read the instructions even in the classrooms and copy of the same is also displayed on the college notice-board. Likewise the students are informed at the start of the session regarding the terminal/ tests examination schedule. Students are clearly made aware of the eligibility conditions required to appear in the final exams. The evaluation is the integral part of teaching learning process. So, the institution makes effective arrangements for the smooth application of the rules about the evaluation processes.
