Academic Goal Achievement

  • The institution being an affiliated college under Jai Prakash University does not have liberty to make any modification in the curriculum. The college ensures that the University Curriculum is followed in the best of the spirit. The syllabi of different UG courses have been formulated in such a way that the students remain engaged through out the year. The courses run at UG level have their relevance to the institution’s goals and objectives. The college aims to impart such knowledge as may be necessary for the all round development of the students thus making them able to compete with the highly competitive job market. To reach out to the goals and objectives, the institution has evolved additional inputs in the syllabi to face the current trends in competitive areas. The college supplements the university’s Curriculum by arranging various programmes such as Personality Development, Spoken English Course, Entrepreneurship development etc.
  • The college strictly adheres to the syllabus designed by affiliating University but while delivering this syllabus content to the students, our faculty enrich it with their own expertise and experience so that the students also gain employable qualities that enable them get jobs in this highly Competitive world. The Career and Counselling cell of the college regularly interacts with the HR managers of companies and collects first hand information about their demands and expectations regarding skill set of students. On this basis we arrange extra classes to make up the deficiencies in the students so that they are benefited in the best possible manner.
  • To enrich the curriculum, practical sessions in different subjects, hands on training programme in biological and biochemical techniques, study tours and workshops are organised by various departments. A women development programme is running in the college to enhance employability of the women in public as well as private sectors. Through NGOs and Government agencies seminars/workshops are organised for entrepreneurship development of the students. Short term courses on personality development and spoken English are frequently organised for the students to make them able to compete in the dynamic employment market.
  • Some of the cross cutting issues are included by the affiliated university into the curriculum of Political Science, History, Geography, and Bio Science. Our Institution tries to execute those by the corresponding department in class room as well as practical teaching. Many of them are from minority community. Seminar on human rights and women rights are organised frequently to create awareness among the students on these issues.
  • Education on Environment and awareness on climate change is provided in class and through awareness campaigns. Being an area that faces water shortage during summer, importance of water conservation is stressed through rainwater harvesting and minimal use of available water. Student participation in compulsory social service makes them responsible citizens conscious and sensitive to environmental changes. All measures are adopted to maintain the campus clean and eco-friendly.
  • The institution does not offer any value-added courses. However, we frequently organise programmes to ensure holistic development of our students. These are as follows:
  • Moral and ethical value: In the beginning of the academic session one week orientation programme is organised in which lectures are delivered by our faculty members on the moral and ethical values. We also regularly organise seminars on the birth day of great personalities in which lectures on moral and ethical values are delivered by our faculty members and resource persons. In-class seminars help the weak as well as the advanced learners to improve their performance. Weekly Association programmes and association activities organized by all the departments contribute to the overall development of the students. Students are also encouraged to participate in seminars, conferences and workshops organized by other institutions and universities.
  • Employable and Life Skills: The College understands that the need of communication skills is vital for the students for better career options. Therefore the institution arranges Verbal and Written Communication Skills workshops. Group discussions, Essay writing etc. is held at regular intervals both in regional and English language in the institution. It is a regular practice of the institution to invite expert resource persons to conduct workshops on the development of communication competence among the students. Students are also encouraged to organize cultural programmes, quiz competitions, seminars, workshops etc. In this way they improve their team building and organizational skills.
  • Better career options: A career guidance cell functioning in the college gives orientation on various career options and informs students about the call for opportunities. Awareness programmes are conducted by experts to selected group of students and reference materials are made available to them. As majority of our students are from the rural background, special attention is paid in organizing programmes on personality development. Spoken English classes are also organised to make the students able to compete in this new era of globalisation.
  • Community orientation: Students of NSS undergo a minimum of 45 days of compulsory Social Service during the 3 year UG programme as per the university orders. The aim is to arouse the social conscience of student community, inculcate service mentality among students and to prepare them to be useful to the society. National Service Scheme (NSS) of the institution creates a spirit of service among students to the fellow being and to the society. It also aims at the personality development of student by interaction and participation in various social and cultural activities. Greening programmes, cleanliness drive, blood donation camps, AIDS awareness programmes, Anti-drug campaigns, Cancer awareness programmes etc., are few of the activities to be cited.
  • The institution receives regular feedback from students and their parents by organising Students-Parent-Teachers meeting. The institution has set up a committee for this purpose. Feedbacks are also obtained from the students through Grievance Redressal Cell and Student member of the departmental council. Each teacher submits a progress report at the end of every month that helps the administration to evaluate the progress in teaching. The academic council of the college reviews teaching practices of the teachers and the feedback is transmitted through the Head of the Institution. The college is planning to develop a feedback procedure on the students' experience of the course of study from the current academic session regarding teaching and learning progresses.
